No Room for Competition — We’re All Unique in Our Different Ways

In the world of music, it’s easy to look around and feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of talented voices, rising stars, and viral sensations. Social media timelines are flooded with achievements, new releases, and sold-out concerts — and if you're not careful, you may start to see your fellow artists as competition rather than collaborators or co-labourers in purpose.

But here's a truth every music artiste must embrace: there’s no room for competition when you understand that we are all unique in our different ways.

You Carry a Different Sound

Every artist has a signature — a sound, message, or expression that flows uniquely through them. Just like no two fingerprints are the same, your musical expression is tailor-made. Trying to compare yourself with others is like comparing a trumpet to a violin — both are powerful, but they serve different purposes in the orchestra.

Your sound may not go viral today, but it might be the healing balm someone needs tomorrow. Stay faithful to your sound, your story, and your journey.

The Stage is Big Enough

The stage of destiny is not limited. Another artist’s success doesn’t reduce your chances. Their light doesn't dim yours — in fact, it shows you that it’s possible. Rather than compete, celebrate, collaborate, and connect. A healthy community builds legacy; unhealthy competition breeds insecurity.

You’re not running against anyone. You're simply becoming the best version of you.

Purpose Over Popularity

Many artists today are driven by numbers — streams, followers, likes — but impact isn’t always visible in stats. Your assignment might not be to fill stadiums; it might be to spark revival in small gatherings. Another person's “big break” might not be your destination, and that’s okay.

Purpose brings peace. Competition brings pressure. Choose purpose.

Build, Don’t Compare

Instead of scrolling and comparing, focus on creating. Water your gift. Sharpen your skills. Grow your sound. Comparison kills creativity, but contentment fuels consistency.

Remember: you were never called to compete. You were called to contribute.

So dear artiste, keep singing your song. Keep writing your lyrics. Keep showing up. There’s room for your voice. There’s a seat for your gift. And there’s a people waiting for what only you can give.

No room for competition — we’re all unique in our different ways.

Let that truth guide your journey. 🌟🎶

The Process 2

You may need to read my first write-up on " The Process 1 " to enable you to follow through on this.  Now for that 9 years, I served in the church as a Music Director, it was not fun as I had to deal with a lot both from both within and outside my church. I never understood what to do and so there were days I was very angry and even felt like giving up (I did sometimes). I had personal issues that were distracting me from my service, but one thing kept me going and it was the love/passion I have for what I do. See, getting to the top is not easy and will never be not even in the future. The process is what builds you up to that future you desire only that you have to go through the pains which will enable you to teach others after you've overcome. N/B: Every opportunity to serve is part of the process. If you miss it, you've missed out. In summary, there will be obstacles on your way but you don't have to quit because quitters never win and winners nev...

7 things worship leaders need to stop doing.

So I came across this video on YouTube by Allen Parr (founder of The Beat) and felt like sharing with worship leaders because it will help and improve us. Seven (7) things worship leaders need to stop doing.  1. Stop making worship about you.  Worship is not about you but about God. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Avoid distraction and lead people to God.  2. Stop singing songs that are theologically inaccurate.  As worship leader, we have the opportunity to lead people into God's presence and also teach them something about God's nature. We can't afford to lead them astray by singing lyrics that are theologically inaccurate. Always know that lyrics are so powerful that people tend to remember them quickly.  3. Stop being predictable.  Be different. Be creative. Just do something different from the normal you.  4. Stop commanding people during worship. Our job as worship leaders is to lead people into God's presence and not to command...
