Dear pastor's,
I write to you not by authority, but through observation and happenings in some of our churches and also by interacting with some music artiste I've come across. Though this is not applicable to all churches, and so like Apt. Paul will say, "Let him who do good continue in his good works".
As much as we believe and respect your ministry, I feel same should be applicable to the music artiste in your local church so there will be a balance. When you invite guest music artiste from outside to minister in your church, you do well in taking good care of them and there team member, you package a good financial support to them which is honouring but what happens to that choir boy/girl in your church, do they get same treatment or you treat your own poorly because you feel his in your church? I'm not here to judge, but to point out this thing that is eating us slowly.
Your music director who runs around during most of the church program making sure things are done well, how do you treat him? Do you give presidential treatment to an outsider and neglecting your own? How often to do support him financially as a way of appreciating his effort?
A wish man once said "If you don't value what you have, you'll lose it". We've seen people leaving their local church, going from church to church because of this issues, and I've also heard pastor's say "let them go others will come". Sir we know others will come, but in most cases they can't and will not be like the one you've lost and so as much as it is in your power, value what you have. Treat them well, not just in words but also in kind.
Also know that a guest music artiste won't and can't be like what you have and so I recommend you also plan financially for that choir boy/girl, same should be done to your music director's. Those big name you're celebrating today are where they are because there own celebrated them, supported them and today you're paying for it. Build your own, support them and their team just as you pray for them. I may be wrong, but I believe if we place value on our own, there will be no need of this unnecessary migration we see in churches today.
I charge you today to take action, value what you have. This is a call I believe is in the right direction.
Yours truly
Godswill Frank
