Behind the mask

In general, man is influence by what he sees, hears and touch and so most times he easily conform himself  to what presents itself to him. The quest to be accepted by all plays a major role in his every day live, why seeking recognition is also a factor to most of his crazy lifestyles ranging from fashion, entertainment, travelling  relationship, seeking attention etc. The face behind the mask depicts man in two form, firstly as a sober being and secondly as a cheerful being.

How?
You'll agree with me that we all have something inside of us that people don't know. It's either a habits, a weakness, strength, hobbies etc, which is the real you (The face behind the mask) and this things all seek for attention and need expression but most times our environment won't allow such because we want to be like this person or that person and so we kill the real us in our quest of being like others.

We come out and display a lot of strength and courage but deep inside of us lays weakness, depression, confusion etc and because we're already different (two face) people don't see that part of us and we end up not talking to anyone and most time we deceive ourselves not knowing we need help. With all this around us, we discover that man in it's real form is a good actor.

The mask in itself isn't bad because it covers those weaknesses and gives us advantage on some area but yet in most cases it drain us because we get so use to it to the point that we're no longer real to even ourselves.

Face it!
No matter how we hide behind the mask, there will always be that day when the real us will surface and if you've not handled your weaknesses, trust me it will break you down and you'll go back to your mask because of shame and before you know it, depression sets in.

Put this in mind that the mask is not your real self, rather it is covering who you are, deal with it. No matter how you wear the mask of happiness, fashion, friendship etc, if you don't make it a duty in your life to take off the mask so you can deal with real issues of life, your real self will soon react and it may not go well by that time. So at all point, don't forget who you are (1 Peter 2:9), and also what you are so you can improve on what you are now and not the mask.

By all means possible, improve yourself, get better each day and try not to do more than you carry or bear. You are better than the mask, so remove it and start living for yourself. You're good the way you are, there's no two you because you were uniquely made for such a time as this.

Welcome to a better life
Welcome to your real life
Welcome to the real life.

7 things worship leaders need to stop doing.

So I came across this video on YouTube by Allen Parr (founder of The Beat) and felt like sharing with worship leaders because it will help and improve us. Seven (7) things worship leaders need to stop doing.  1. Stop making worship about you.  Worship is not about you but about God. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Avoid distraction and lead people to God.  2. Stop singing songs that are theologically inaccurate.  As worship leader, we have the opportunity to lead people into God's presence and also teach them something about God's nature. We can't afford to lead them astray by singing lyrics that are theologically inaccurate. Always know that lyrics are so powerful that people tend to remember them quickly.  3. Stop being predictable.  Be different. Be creative. Just do something different from the normal you.  4. Stop commanding people during worship. Our job as worship leaders is to lead people into God's presence and not to command...

The Process 2

You may need to read my first write-up on " The Process 1 " to enable you to follow through on this.  Now for that 9 years, I served in the church as a Music Director, it was not fun as I had to deal with a lot both from both within and outside my church. I never understood what to do and so there were days I was very angry and even felt like giving up (I did sometimes). I had personal issues that were distracting me from my service, but one thing kept me going and it was the love/passion I have for what I do. See, getting to the top is not easy and will never be not even in the future. The process is what builds you up to that future you desire only that you have to go through the pains which will enable you to teach others after you've overcome. N/B: Every opportunity to serve is part of the process. If you miss it, you've missed out. In summary, there will be obstacles on your way but you don't have to quit because quitters never win and winners nev...

True Worshipers

John 4:23-24 NIV  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” After many years as a worship leader thinking that this verse of the scripture refers mostly the us as worship leaders but it became more clearing to me this morning that everyone is involved in this scripture.  We were having fellowship this morning and a brother in the meeting was leading in prayer and quoted this scripture but took a different approach to it. Out of the many things he said, one thing sticked to my heart, he said "a true worshipper is not a singer, but all who worship God with a pure heart, also in Spirit and in truth. This kept me thinking all through even as I try to shift from my formal thought as a worship leader, but this is the truth I wanted to hear and it have changed my thought ...
