Bring Back Bible Study

I remember those day when we meet for Bible Study as a little boy, I remember my parents holding our hands to church and how the settings was. There was time for Bible reading as the pastor or any of the brethren will read and share his/her thought on the text read then the floor with be open for all to share there own thoughts on the text,

it was a study forum where everyone participated and no one was left behind. Question were asked by those who didn't understand and answers were given as no one was shut down, everyone was important in the group no matter your level or qualifications. This was the normal practise as the word was rightly divided.

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I also remember my teens days where I won't miss bible Study for any reason, because out of my curiosity  I will ask question and answers were given to my question, I wasn't looked down on because one way or the other everyone will benefit from my question matter how foolish it may look.

If I wasn't okay with the answers given, the pastor or whoever was in charge will make sure I get clarity so I don't go back wondering in lost. There was never a time in our Bible Study where we don't discuss because it was never a one man show rather everyone was involved and together our faith were built. This made our heart long for the next Bible Study meeting.

What do we have now?

We now have a church packaged in such a way that people go most times the way they are, the pastor in most case have the final say (No time for question, discussion, meditation etc). We just come to hear and then allow our spirit judge even when we have this feeling that something is not right, we just keep our cool and get along with it. Not everybody will be able to bear such and because of this we have a lot of wrong doctrines springing out because we've neglected the important part (Bible Study) and we're chasing after shadows.

Because of this we now have youths with clueless revelation spreading among them selves as a result of no proper time to rightly divid the word of truth and judge those revelation. We have the ones who come on social media and argue when such argument would have been done in the place of studying together and by this arguments our faith and that of others are watered as the day goes by. We see a breed of people with no respect whatsoever for the tenants of faith because our eyes went off the real thing and we're now faced with more challenges in the body of Christ yet no sign that it will ever get better.

Bring back Bible Study

Whatever happened to Bible Study, can we go back to our basic which is studying the Bible and not midweek service where we come listen to one person talk and at the end we say the grace and off we go. We are losing our young once unknowingly to us. We have a well packaged church filled with half baked members inside, people who can't defend there faith yet can argue blindly on social media. I fear for my generation  because if things are not fixed, we may not have anything to hand over to the next generation.

Joel 1:3 NIV
Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation.

We have a generation to save, enough of all this church packaging. Let's face the real problem which is lack of studying, and by so doing we can build a generation that can defend the gospel no matter where they find there selves.

I pray that this message be received in good faith and as a way of stirring the church up for what God have called her to do and achieve.

True Worshipers

John 4:23-24 NIV  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” After many years as a worship leader thinking that this verse of the scripture refers mostly the us as worship leaders but it became more clearing to me this morning that everyone is involved in this scripture.  We were having fellowship this morning and a brother in the meeting was leading in prayer and quoted this scripture but took a different approach to it. Out of the many things he said, one thing sticked to my heart, he said "a true worshipper is not a singer, but all who worship God with a pure heart, also in Spirit and in truth. This kept me thinking all through even as I try to shift from my formal thought as a worship leader, but this is the truth I wanted to hear and it have changed my thought ...

How to Be a Good Singer

How to Be a Good Singer 1. Work With a Professional Listening to what friends have to say or reading blog posts can be helpful but when it’s time to take the next step, you’re going to need a Vocal Coach of some kind. When you’re first starting to improve your singing skills, that person might be a Teacher in school or perhaps someone else you know who has been singing for a long time. READ MORE 2. Breathe! Breathing properly and in time is key to delivering an on-point vocal performance and it is something you will have to master if you want to be a good singer. Breathing is also, sadly, something many of those just starting out as singers don’t think about nearly enough when really it’s one of the first things that needs to be mastered in order to improve. You should take time to practice breathing (a sentence that sounds funny but is actually sound advice) before every performance. In fact, if you’re really committed to becoming a great singer and potentially pursuing th...

7 things worship leaders need to stop doing.

So I came across this video on YouTube by Allen Parr (founder of The Beat) and felt like sharing with worship leaders because it will help and improve us. Seven (7) things worship leaders need to stop doing.  1. Stop making worship about you.  Worship is not about you but about God. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Avoid distraction and lead people to God.  2. Stop singing songs that are theologically inaccurate.  As worship leader, we have the opportunity to lead people into God's presence and also teach them something about God's nature. We can't afford to lead them astray by singing lyrics that are theologically inaccurate. Always know that lyrics are so powerful that people tend to remember them quickly.  3. Stop being predictable.  Be different. Be creative. Just do something different from the normal you.  4. Stop commanding people during worship. Our job as worship leaders is to lead people into God's presence and not to command...
