The song we sing

"The song we sing,
They all belongs to you. "

This words are lyrics from "Damita Haddon's" song "It all belongs to you".

John 6:63b NIV
...the words I have spoken to you,
they are full of the Spirit and life.

Jesus'words bring to mind this question,
Do we really understand the words in the song when we sing?

I've been in the music ministry for a while and I have seen a lot of things and I can say for free that some person's truly don't  understand the songs they sing that's the reason we're having lots of emotional singers singing to emotional people. To this effect we see little or no result of the manifestation of God when we gather in our worship meetings (concert), church services etc. We fail to understand that the songs we sing are spirit and also life.

John 1:1NIV
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.

We don't just sing melodies or harmony, rather what process out of our mouths are words and they are powerful but because some don't know, they don't see results and so we end up having lots of entertainers.

N/B: Entertainment in itself is not wrong, it have a place as far as music is concern. But an understanding of what we do makes it powerful to the one who hears it and also the one who entertainer.

Why we see little or no miracles in our meetings as music minister's, I believe it's because we've fail to understand that our ministry is first in word (God's word) before singing. When we understand this, we will be conscious of every word that comes out of our mouths in/out of stage.

THE BIG QUESTION

How much word do you have inside of you?

Psalm 119:11 KJV
Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.

You know you can have the best of voice but yet word empty. You can be so skilled but yet empty inside.

See the devil and his agent does not respect your vocal strength neither are they interested in the amount of skill you have but the amount of God's word inside of you makes them tremble. That's why you see some person's sing with much passion but yet no result, at most what you get is emotional feelings.

Is emotion is worship wrong? No.

When emotions are driven by the Holy Spirit, you have a positive result. People who feel emotional at the point when the song is at its pick and end up forgetting everything that happened in the meeting. But when the Holy Spirit is involved, you have an experience backing that feelings.

Truth is people can fall on the ground (under anointing) and stand up without an experience. The Holy Spirit is the one that gives that experience but the music ministry have a role to play to set the atmosphere for Him to operate.

Revelation 12:11 KJV
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony...

I SING, I UNDERSTAND

1 Corinthians 14:15 NIV
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my understanding; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my understanding.

As minstrels in whatever office you occupy, you must understand that the songs you sing is power and also a tool in the hands of God for deliverance, healing, breakthrough etc. The songs we sing are Spirit and they are life and if we don't have enough of this word (God's word) in us, how then do we operate in our office's? Remember what you have is what you gives, if God's word is life, then we give out life when we sing and so if you don't have life in you, what will you give?

Go for the word, stay with the word, build on the word and you'll see positive change in your personal life and ministry.

Joshua 1:8 NIV
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Let's stop this emotional manipulations and do what God have called us to do.

Stay blessed.

True Worshipers

John 4:23-24 NIV  Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” After many years as a worship leader thinking that this verse of the scripture refers mostly the us as worship leaders but it became more clearing to me this morning that everyone is involved in this scripture.  We were having fellowship this morning and a brother in the meeting was leading in prayer and quoted this scripture but took a different approach to it. Out of the many things he said, one thing sticked to my heart, he said "a true worshipper is not a singer, but all who worship God with a pure heart, also in Spirit and in truth. This kept me thinking all through even as I try to shift from my formal thought as a worship leader, but this is the truth I wanted to hear and it have changed my thought ...

How to Be a Good Singer

How to Be a Good Singer 1. Work With a Professional Listening to what friends have to say or reading blog posts can be helpful but when it’s time to take the next step, you’re going to need a Vocal Coach of some kind. When you’re first starting to improve your singing skills, that person might be a Teacher in school or perhaps someone else you know who has been singing for a long time. READ MORE 2. Breathe! Breathing properly and in time is key to delivering an on-point vocal performance and it is something you will have to master if you want to be a good singer. Breathing is also, sadly, something many of those just starting out as singers don’t think about nearly enough when really it’s one of the first things that needs to be mastered in order to improve. You should take time to practice breathing (a sentence that sounds funny but is actually sound advice) before every performance. In fact, if you’re really committed to becoming a great singer and potentially pursuing th...

7 things worship leaders need to stop doing.

So I came across this video on YouTube by Allen Parr (founder of The Beat) and felt like sharing with worship leaders because it will help and improve us. Seven (7) things worship leaders need to stop doing.  1. Stop making worship about you.  Worship is not about you but about God. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Avoid distraction and lead people to God.  2. Stop singing songs that are theologically inaccurate.  As worship leader, we have the opportunity to lead people into God's presence and also teach them something about God's nature. We can't afford to lead them astray by singing lyrics that are theologically inaccurate. Always know that lyrics are so powerful that people tend to remember them quickly.  3. Stop being predictable.  Be different. Be creative. Just do something different from the normal you.  4. Stop commanding people during worship. Our job as worship leaders is to lead people into God's presence and not to command...
