Some days won’t make sense

Image
One thing nobody tells you about learning tech or any new skill is this: You will feel lost before things start making sense. There were days I watched tutorials and understood absolutely nothing. Days I opened my code editor and stared at errors for hours. But slowly, things started connecting. The concepts that once looked impossible became familiar simply because I refused to stop showing up. Growth in tech or any field of work is not magic. It’s repetition, consistency, and patience. Keep going. One day, the things confusing you now will become the things you explain to others.

You have a choice

Image
You have a choice: keep complaining, or think right and find a solution. We all come to that point where it feels as though the world is against us. It looks like nothing is working, everything is going wrong, and there seems to be no way out. But at that point, we all have a choice to make. Our decision determines what we get out of the situation. We can choose to complain about the problem, or we can choose to think through it and look for a solution. I remember being angry about something one time, and God asked me why I was angry—as though He didn’t already know.  😂 I told Him why, and in the simplest terms, He said to me, “Why are you getting angry over things you cannot control?” At that point, I realised I was the fool.  🤣 But here’s the lesson: Why get angry over what you cannot control when you can choose to find an alternative? This is where many of us struggle. We allow situations we cannot change to affect our attitude, our decisions, and even the way we respond ...

My Journey Into the Tech Ecosystem 🚀

Image
Sometimes, the biggest decisions in life start with a simple conviction deep inside your heart. Back in 2023, I decided to pursue something I had desired for a long time — becoming a backend developer. It wasn’t a random decision. It came after a strong personal conviction (story for another day 😂), and although I didn’t fully understand what the journey would look like, I knew I had to start somewhere. Like many beginners, I turned to online learning platforms such as Udemy, Cisco, and Alison because that was all I knew at the time. I spent hours watching tutorials, taking notes, and trying to understand concepts that felt completely foreign to me. But the truth is, it wasn’t easy. There were moments of confusion, frustration, and self-doubt. Looking back now, I realized something important: I wasn’t truly learning effectively at first — I was mostly trying to fit into the tech space without proper direction. That experience taught me one valuable lesson I’ll always share with beginn...

Collaboration over competition - Pt 5

Image
A Call to Action — encouraging artistes to start building genuine connections and create together. I’d love to leave you with this final thought — collaboration isn’t a trend, it’s a kingdom principle. 🤝🏽🎵 For the past few days, we’ve talked about the dangers of competition, the power of collaboration, and how ego can stand in the way. Now it’s time to take action. Don’t just agree with these words — live them. Send that message. Reach out to that artiste. Reconnect with that friend you once made music with. The vision is too big for one person to carry alone. When we choose collaboration over competition, we build something that lasts longer than a song — we build legacy, unity, and impact. The future of gospel music isn’t in rivalry, it’s in partnerships that glorify God and bless lives. So, let’s do this together. Collaboration over competition — always.

Collaboration over competition - Pt 4

Image
Real Stories & Benefits — examples of how collaboration has opened doors for others . I’d love to share something interesting with you today — real stories that prove collaboration truly works. 🎶 Have you ever noticed how some artistes seem to rise faster after a single collaboration? It’s not magic. It’s shared energy, shared audience, shared purpose. When two artistes come together, something powerful happens — creativity expands. One brings melody, the other brings lyrics. One brings stage presence, the other brings production magic. And together, they create something unforgettable. Collaboration opens doors that competition could never unlock. It connects you with new people, new listeners, and even opportunities you never saw coming. So, if you’ve been praying for growth, maybe your next big step is just one collaboration away. Don’t wait — reach out, connect, create. See you on the next episode. 🎬

Collaboration over competition - Pt 3

Image
Breaking the Ego Barrier — dealing with pride, fear, or insecurity that stops artistes from collaborating. I’d love to take you a little deeper today… because this one is real — ego has stopped more collaborations than talent ever did. 💭 Sometimes, it’s not that we don’t want to work with others — it’s just that pride, fear, or insecurity gets in the way. We think, “What if they outshine me?” or “I don’t want people to think I’m beneath them.” But that mindset only builds walls where bridges should be. True strength isn’t in acting like you don’t need anyone — it’s in recognizing that everyone has something you don’t. When you drop the ego, you make room for connection, creativity, and growth. Remember, humility doesn’t reduce you — it positions you for more. Collaboration begins where ego ends. See you on the next episode. 🎬

Collaboration over competition - Pt 2

Image
The Power of Collaboration — why working together multiplies reach, creativity, and impact. I’d love to remind you of something simple but powerful — we rise faster when we rise together. 💪🏽🎵 Many artistes underestimate what collaboration can do. It’s not just about featuring someone on a song — it’s about merging strengths, sharing audiences, and creating something bigger than yourself. When you collaborate, you’re exposed to new ideas, new creativity, and new people who might never have heard your sound. You learn, you grow, and you expand. Some of the greatest songs we know today were born out of genuine partnership — two hearts, one vision, one sound. That’s the beauty of collaboration: it multiplies impact. So, the next time you meet a fellow artiste, don’t size them up — see them as a possible partner for greatness. Together, we can do more than we could ever do alone. Don't miss the next episode

Collaboration over competition - Pt 1

The Problem with Competition  — how rivalry among artistes kills growth and community. I’d love to take you on a short journey — one that every music artiste needs to go on. 🎶 Let’s be real… competition has become so loud in our industry that it’s killing the beauty of what music was meant to be — connection. Some artistes spend so much energy trying to  outshine  others instead of  growing  with them. The truth? There’s room for everyone. Your sound, your grace, and your journey are unique. Competing with another artiste only limits your growth and blinds you to what collaboration could bring. When we compete, we compare. And when we compare, we lose focus. But when we collaborate, we create — we build community, we share audiences, we multiply impact. So, before you see another artiste as a rival, pause and ask yourself… 👉🏽  What could happen if we actually worked together instead? See you on the next episode.  🎬

You’ll Be Fine — More Than Just Words By Godswill Frank

Image
There’s something simple, yet deeply profound about the phrase: “You’ll be fine.” It’s just three words — easy to say, often casually thrown around — but when spoken at the right moment, they carry the weight of comfort, hope, and quiet strength. The Power Behind the Words We hear it when we’re scared. We hear it when things don’t make sense. We hear it when we’re in the middle of waiting, hurting, hoping, or healing. “You’ll be fine” doesn’t always change the situation, but sometimes, it changes us. It whispers to the storm within: breathe. It doesn’t deny the pain — it just assures us that the pain doesn’t get the final say. Not an Escape, But an Anchor Some people misunderstand these words. They think it’s denial. A way to brush things aside or minimize reality. But true reassurance isn’t about escaping — it’s about anchoring. “You’ll be fine” is not a dismissal; it’s a reminder. A reminder that wounds heal, seasons change, and light returns — even if it takes time. For the One Who’...

No Room for Competition — We’re All Unique in Our Different Ways

Image
In the world of music, it’s easy to look around and feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of talented voices, rising stars, and viral sensations. Social media timelines are flooded with achievements, new releases, and sold-out concerts — and if you're not careful, you may start to see your fellow artists as competition rather than collaborators or co-labourers in purpose. But here's a truth every music artiste must embrace: there’s no room for competition when you understand that we are all unique in our different ways. You Carry a Different Sound Every artist has a signature — a sound, message, or expression that flows uniquely through them. Just like no two fingerprints are the same, your musical expression is tailor-made. Trying to compare yourself with others is like comparing a trumpet to a violin — both are powerful, but they serve different purposes in the orchestra. Your sound may not go viral today, but it might be the healing balm someone needs tomorrow. Stay faithful ...

Tips To Becoming A Good Musician

Image
Whether you've been playing your chosen instrument for years, or youre just getting started, no one is perfect and everyone can improve. So if youre hoping to take that next step towards playing like a pro, or looking for new ways to hone your skills, here are our tips to help you become a better musician. Musicianship is not something that can be measured. Sure it means you can play your instrument well but in no way means you are a musician. A musician is someone who can not only play, but someone who can understand, write, perform, and feel music. Musicians also can play with other musicians due to their knowledge and ability. A musician must be well-rounded in every aspect of music. They must also have the ability to listen. Playing over someone else or playing the wrong harmony can be catastrophic. Listening cannot be over stated. PRACTICE TECHNIQUES This may seem like an obvious one, but the point we want to make is that simply playing your instrument is necessari...

How to Be a Good Singer

Image
How to Be a Good Singer 1. Work With a Professional Listening to what friends have to say or reading blog posts can be helpful but when it’s time to take the next step, you’re going to need a Vocal Coach of some kind. When you’re first starting to improve your singing skills, that person might be a Teacher in school or perhaps someone else you know who has been singing for a long time. READ MORE 2. Breathe! Breathing properly and in time is key to delivering an on-point vocal performance and it is something you will have to master if you want to be a good singer. Breathing is also, sadly, something many of those just starting out as singers don’t think about nearly enough when really it’s one of the first things that needs to be mastered in order to improve. You should take time to practice breathing (a sentence that sounds funny but is actually sound advice) before every performance. In fact, if you’re really committed to becoming a great singer and potentially pursuing th...

7 things worship leaders need to stop doing.

Image
So I came across this video on YouTube by Allen Parr (founder of The Beat) and felt like sharing with worship leaders because it will help and improve us. Seven (7) things worship leaders need to stop doing.  1. Stop making worship about you.  Worship is not about you but about God. Stop drawing attention to yourself. Avoid distraction and lead people to God.  2. Stop singing songs that are theologically inaccurate.  As worship leader, we have the opportunity to lead people into God's presence and also teach them something about God's nature. We can't afford to lead them astray by singing lyrics that are theologically inaccurate. Always know that lyrics are so powerful that people tend to remember them quickly.  3. Stop being predictable.  Be different. Be creative. Just do something different from the normal you.  4. Stop commanding people during worship. Our job as worship leaders is to lead people into God's presence and not to command...

The Process 2

Image
You may need to read my first write-up on " The Process 1 " to enable you to follow through on this.  Now for that 9 years, I served in the church as a Music Director, it was not fun as I had to deal with a lot both from both within and outside my church. I never understood what to do and so there were days I was very angry and even felt like giving up (I did sometimes). I had personal issues that were distracting me from my service, but one thing kept me going and it was the love/passion I have for what I do. See, getting to the top is not easy and will never be not even in the future. The process is what builds you up to that future you desire only that you have to go through the pains which will enable you to teach others after you've overcome. N/B: Every opportunity to serve is part of the process. If you miss it, you've missed out. In summary, there will be obstacles on your way but you don't have to quit because quitters never win and winners nev...

How much of your craft do you know?

Image
Dear Music Artiste, I'll like to share some thoughts with you. I may not be 100% right but I'm sure it will help you.  Let's start with a question, and I'll like you to be sincere in your answer.  How much do you do about your craft (music)?  If you know the answer to this question, then you're good to go. But if not, I think you should start from there. No matter the genre of music you do, you must know and understand how it works. This to an extent will make you different from others (it's not a spiritual thing, it's a simple head knowledge). If you study the Old Testament and King David's pattern of music, you'll understand better.  Don't just sing because everyone is singing, by all means, know the genre of song you're doing and why you are doing it. What do you know about that genre and how can you do it well. This should be your guide. I say this because I see a lot of us running in circles without knowing where we're go...

We Move, God Amplifies

Image
Those words dropped in my heart after my ministration some weeks back at my home church FIRSTLOVE ASSEMBLY Rumuokwuta. Trust me, there are things we don't say on stage so you may not really understand where I'm coming from (story for another day), but from experience I've discovered that God won't do anything in certain areas of our lives until we make the move and then He amplifies it.   You remember the four lepers who made a move during the famine in Elisha's time (2 Kings 7:3-8). They said "all die na die" and they made that move. On getter there they saw no one because God had amplified their steps and the enemies took off and left everything they had and this hopeless men who were ready to die had more than enough that the country of Israel benefited from it also.  I feel God does not do anything when we don't make a move because he expects us to take that bold step. I'm just here to encourage you to make that move you've alwa...

The Process 1

Image
I served in a local church for more than 20yrs, served as a music director for almost 9yrs in the same local church. I've been doing music professionally for more than 15yrs and currently I'm serving in FIRSTLOVE ASSEMBLY in the music department. In all this, I've have failed in something's i started. Some I kept pushing, others I left because I felt it wasn't worth my time or energy. I stated the above so you understand I didn't just get to where I am by the click of a switch, I've served and worked in various department not just music but as a teacher as well and also as volunteer.  N/B: There is a process to everything, and when the procedure is not followed, we will miss out of what is ahead. So be patient with yourself and follow the process to whatever dream you're pursuing. Don't start walking before you learn how to sit, don't start running before you learn how to walk. If you skip the process, you lose out of the gain. Let th...

People's Help

Image
Let me start on the note that "You can't do everything, you need people to help you do other things so you can get better on what you're currently doing" . When I started my business, I was all in all. By this I mean I did virtually everything but yet my result was below average. I felt I could run everything, save the money, and make a big profit, but that was me deceiving myself.  As I grow in my business I discover that "people's help" was all I needed to make my business grow. Now, this is not just in business, but in life generally.  Have you ever wonder why you struggle at almost everything you do? Even with the mindset to make it on your own, is it truly working? A popular proverb "no man is an island" comes to mind at this point. No matter how powerful we may think we are, we need people's help to achieve victory. No matter how intelligent we are, we need people's help to achieve whatever our thoughts are. No man can become ...

What Do You Have

Image
It's very simple, as long as I keep improving my skill set, I will keep connecting to the right people who will eventually pay for the value I offer.  Proverbs 22:29 AMPC Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. What you have is what will take you to places and so you must work very hard to improve it. With all fairness, let no man deceive you, people will always pay for value and this is possible only when you are diligent in whatever you do.

Your Talent Not For Competition

Image
Matthew 25:14-15 KJV For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. From the above scripture, we see the master giving out talent according to there own abilities. The key word there is "to every man according to his several ability". The master was not looking for competition, but he needed them to work together each according to his strength thereby complementing each other's weaknesses.  Let's relate this to music and other parts of our lives. We all have different talents in the display, different persons uniquely empowered with his/her vocal strength to deliver to his/her unique audience. The truth is that this was intentional by the creator (God), not for competition rather for support, blending, and working together to achieve ...
